Inspired by a pile of discarded coal in the park near my house, this constructed letterform speaks to the bigger more pressing global issue of climate change and reflects my sentiments towards the absolute idiocy of an advanced species happily bringing themselves to extinction.

Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Attwood is a dystopian story of a patriarchal, totalitarian regime rebuilding the dwindling U.S population by placing fertile women in to roles of sexual servitude. My concept brings the symbol of the handmaids, red tulips and their reality to life; do or hang for it.

Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez exposes data bias in a world designed for men. This concept plays with the shadows formed by a piece of paper cut in the shape of an M. The towering nature of the shadow cast by the M and of course the upside W that hides within the shadow of the M.
Dimensional Lettering
This concept highlights the various social issues surrounding masculinity and femininity. There are many layers to toxic masculinity; toxicity within the construction industry which is rampant, the oppression of male emotions or their freedom to express any “feminine” qualities and finally the sexualisation of female nipples but not male nipples.
